At Modern Montessori, learning doesn’t stop at the core curriculum. Our live, online extracurricular offerings are a chance for students to explore passions, develop new skills, and connect with children beyond the school day.
Extracurriculars are open to both Modern Montessori students and children outside our school community.

¡Hablemos! Spanish Club
Speak. Play. Connect.
Nelson Maldonado
A native Spanish speaker from Venezuela, Nelson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Languages (English/Spanish) from Universidad de los Andes and brings more than 10 years of experience teaching languages to children and teens. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, Nelson creates lively, interactive classes where students build their skills through conversation, games, culture, and real-world communication.
In ¡Hablemos! Spanish Club, students strengthen vocabulary, listening, speaking, and comprehension while gaining confidence using Spanish naturally. Nelson’s engaging approach welcomes students at different levels and makes language learning an active, social experience.
Master Moves Chess Club
Learn strategy from an International Chess Master.
International Master Simón Languidey
International Master Simón Languidey brings elite competitive experience and 15 years of chess coaching to Master Move Chess Club. Originally from Argentina and now based in Brazil, Simón became an Argentine National Champion at just 12 years old, has ranked among the Top 30 players in Argentina, and was formerly among the Top 1000 players in the world.
An experienced instructor of children and teens, Simón makes chess engaging and accessible for players at different levels. Through games, puzzles, strategy, and tactical challenges, students strengthen their chess skills while developing concentration, problem-solving, planning, and confidence.

Ms. Mariana
Ms. Mariana is an AMI-certified Montessori guide with more than 14 years of experience working with children in virtual and in-person learning environments in the United States and Argentina. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and brings a Montessori approach grounded in independence, hands-on exploration, creativity, and respect for each child’s individual development.
In The Art Lab, students become artists and experimenters as they explore a variety of materials, techniques, styles, and creative challenges. Rather than everyone creating the same finished project, students have opportunities to make choices, experiment with ideas, solve creative problems, and develop their own artistic voice. The focus is on curiosity, discovery, individual expression, and the creative process itself.
Music in Motion
Move. Listen. Create.
Ms. Maria
Ms. Maria is an AMI- and MACTE-certified Montessori guide with more than a decade of experience working with children. A lifelong musician and vocalist, she is also trained in Edwin Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, a child-centered approach that helps children learn music naturally—much like they learn language.
In Music in Motion, Ms. Maria brings together Montessori principles, music, and movement in a joyful, interactive experience. Children sing, move, listen, explore rhythm and melody, and begin developing their own musical voice while building creativity, confidence, and connection.
Each session is 45- 60 minutes long and runs for a full 16-week semester. There is a separate fee for each class and sibling discounts are available. Materials lists will be provided.
Each semester’s offerings evolve based on student interest.

A summer designed to support the natural curiosity of the child—where each week offers a new path of exploration within a consistent and thoughtful rhythm.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, families are invited to enroll week by week, choosing the experiences that best align with their child’s interests and summer plans. Each week stands on its own, while also allowing for deeper engagement over time.

Guided by Montessori principles and led by experienced educators, children engage in meaningful work through hands-on exploration, thoughtful discussion, and collaboration with peers.
